Prints in the sand

By Isaac Adewale Omole       Jan 18, 2016

Prints in the sand

All men are created equal
Equal in all things
Proudly proclaims the American speech
These things I find common with all men
Naked we came out of the womb
With nothing shall we return to dust
Whether rich or poor
One day we’ll all be history
No matter our story
This also I know
That all men are not equal
Destiny lies in the hands
A king and a slave
Princes and commoners
Noble and simple
The commoner and the great die
Though the ordinary man fades from memory
The memory of the great man lives on
Things we do
Hearts we touch
Words we speak
Lives we affect
Things we influence
Changes we effect
They are our footprints in the sand
Our legacy, our history
The mark we leave for others to follow
Though names are forgotten
And images lost
Legacy remains in history
Greatness starts from within
We all have it inside
But it requires action and work
That separates the great from the ordinary
Life is what you make it
Leave a mark wherever you are
