With great excitement and expectations, I write this article as inspired. When the Spirit of the LORD brought this matter to my spirit, I encountered it with mixed feelings: For as much as I was eager to write, I was also mindful of the instructions of this article for my own life and ministry. So, I write, not as an authority as it were; but as an authorized Scribe of the LORD.
Ministry is good and great: For it is a mixed experience of excitement, experience and endurance. And that connotes that no man or woman or even angel must embark on the work of ministry with a handful of knowledge or pure ignorance: For the LORD Himself said, “Therefore My people have gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge.” (Isaiah 5:13). Please take note, the people of God did not go into captivity simply because God was no more with them, or they lacked power; rather, because they lacked knowledge. Thus, everyone in any ministry of some sort (either full-time or part-time; paid or volunteered) must possess adequate knowledge of crucial truth about ministry. But perhaps you are still thinking about engaging yourself in the work of ministry, whether in the Church or outside the Church; then, I congratulate you: For you will begin your own ministerial responsibilities fully kitted – when you eventually decide it.
For us to be on the same page in this article, we must have similar understanding of the keywords of the article – wings and ministry.
When we see or hear wings or wing, we usually presume it to imply something used for flying. And so, from the dictionary, a wing imply a part of the body of a bird; insect or bat that is uses for flying or one of the large flat parts that stick out from the side of a plane and help it in the air when it is flying and many more like that. However, all those explanations about wing relates to its explanation when used as a noun; but when used as a verb, it means to fly somewhere or to be sent somewhere very quickly.
Since we are not in an English Language class, we will not go further on that, but we must keep the two implications of the wing in our hearts – when used as a noun, and when used as a verb. Noun describes what the wing is, while verb explains what the wing does – the action. For this article, we will stick with the verb meaning of a wing, which implies to be sent somewhere very quickly. However, we will also examine what is provided for the sent one, to enable him or her move swiftly.
Ministry on the other hand is simply running a divine errand. And you could enlarge it a bit with, Pursing a God-given vision on the earth. However, if you intend to broaden your mind on ministry; then, we could see ministry as sharing divine Spirit for easing divine burden. And that implies that you become one with God in His Spirit in order for you to ease His burden on the earth.
Therefore, if you combine the two words – wings and ministry together; we would get something like running a divine errand quickly with divine enablement. The point is, ministry alone does not tell how you do what you were sent to do, it simply explain what you were sent to do or where you were sent; however, with the wings, we could understand the swiftness of your assignment and the provisions of God for your assignment.
Therefore, we shall be looking at the six wings that are inevitable for the fulfillment of ministry on the earth. Remember, it is not enough to know you have been called into ministry by God, you must know the wings He has fabricated for your own swiftness and effectiveness in ministry.
In the year that king Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple.
Above it stood seraphim; each one had six wings: with two he covered his face, with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. And one cried to another and said:
Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts; the whole earth is full of His glory!
Honestly, the ONLY reason for ministry is the glory of God! I mean, God has no need of creating and making you and I, if there was no need for the whole earth to be full of His glory. Let me say boldly here that your life and ministry was birthed primarily to fill the whole earth (beginning from your community, to your city, country and to your continent) with the glory that ONLY God has and gives. No wonder Isaiah prophesied and said to you and I that we should “Arise, shine; for your (our) light has come! And the glory of the LORD is risen upon you (us). (Isaiah 60:1). The point is, we would have no reason or ability to shine as lights in the world, if the glory of the LORD has not risen upon us. And David said, “For with You (LORD) is the fountain (source) of life; in Your light (glory) we see light (shine). (Psalms 36:9)
Actually, if we could all get this truth, the way we DO ministry (even Church) will change for better: For no man or woman is the fountain (source) of anything; rather, every man or woman is only a channel for anything. Hence, until a man contact the glory of the LORD, he or she cannot shine on the earth; and until each believer shines on the earth, the glory of the LORD cannot full the earth. And until the glory of the LORD fill the earth, our lives and ministries have not yielded fruit onto God.
So, if we keep that close in our hearts, we might fulfill ministry. And perhaps you are wondering, how can I know if I have fulfilled my ministry? Then, I must say again, the purpose of your life and ministry is to fill your world with the glory of the LORD. Hence, if your own world is Entertainment (world or industry), then fill it with God’s glory DELIBERATELY, PASSIONATELY and WHOLEHEARTEDLY. And if your own world is Government, then fill it with the glory of the LORD. And perhaps your own world is Education, then turn it upside down for the glory of God. Remember:
Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
1 Corinthians 10:31
That is very important please, for no man or woman can seek his or her fame, popularity, fortune and honour and God’s own at the same time. However, when we do all to showcase the wisdom, power, honour, glory, riches, strength and blessings of God on the earth; He will ensure that our lives and ministries daily reflect them. This is what I mean, when you do all to give glory to God, he will give the same glory back to you; and when you give honour to Him in all you do, he will give honour back to you.
